quick question - which is safest bet

I have two cars on offer right now, one has an Abraxus warranty with an individual claim limit of £6k, up to the ceiling price of the car. Its a cheaper Vogue.
The other is a Land Rover approved vehicle with the Land Rover 12 month warranty. Its a dearer car same spec, 3k less miles.

Which is best/safest warranty option?
Thanks guys.

I would consider the LR approved used vehicle/warranty to be the better option of the two. I would check and confirm with the dealer to find out if it has the same cover as 3yr warranty when purchasing a new RR, if not what are the exclusions?

I have had experience with Abraxus for tyre cover only when I brought my TD6 some years ago and did not have a problem with the 1 and only claim I made - but... an after market warranty on used cars I think have more exclusions with parts/labour cover (especially with the air suspension and majority of electrical components of RR) which most used vehicles from other manufacturers do not have and therefore isn't considered on list of parts covered.

How long is the Abraxus warranty cover for and what does the small print say?

I take it - the car offered with the Abraxus warranty is not from a LR main dealer?

I'm also shopping and in the same boat. I suppose it all depends on what the actual price difference is. 3 thousand miles is nothing of a difference though.

Out of interest. With the 6k claim limit, does that mean they will pay the first 6k of any claim, or 6k in overall claims??

I think it's difficult to beat the landrover warranty, even though it isn't the same as the original 'bumper to bumper' warranty they get from new.

It is a £6k per claim limit, up to a total value of my purchase price of the car.
I suppose it depends on how many big things may break on them?

I think you'd be unlucky to exceed 6k, but it's definately not impossible. Will they pay the first 6k of the claim or are you'bust' if it goes over, and they pay nothing? (ie if the claim is 7k, do you just have to put a 1000 towards or all 7?!)

With the Land Rover warranty, be sure it's a Land Rover Approved Warranty as opposed to a Land Rover Select Warranty. The latter is an insurance based warranty whereas the Approved warranty is factory backed.

Be carefull.

The warrenty from the stealer may not be a LR one, it doesn't have to be, it's just they are not allowed to sell a car without a warrenty.

Even the LR extended warrenty does not = the 1st 3 year warrnety.

Ask for the T&C's of both and go through them and then compare.

I have just paid the deposit on a 36k miles TDV8 Vogue in Tonga Green with black leather at Stratstone in Perth, it had a towbar in the pics but they cannot find it, they say they will sort it. That is it Abraxia warrantied for two years, serviced & MOT'ed for two years, veyr happy.
Got a grill of Ebay, now I just need to find some mats, side steps and possibly a bootliner (if they exist?)

Well done specman - welcome to the gang Thumbs Up (I knew the Tonga would win you over Whistle )

Land Rover do 3 types of Load Liner for the L322...

Rubber Flat Mat to match the rubber floor mats, rigid plastic liner tray with raised sides or heavy duty pvc type (like seat covers) that covers all carpeted area including drop down tail gate.

All types usually always available off eBay

When do you pick it up?

Probably Thursday next week once the insurance etc comes through.
Exciting, its primarily for SWMBO as I have a couple of BMW 7 series to play with!
But I hope to get a shot, there are a fair few similarities between the motors with switchgear etc.

I like these. Heavy duty boot mat - same as Land Rover official part but sooooo much cheaper!
