Uneven tyre wear

Hi most knowledable fellow FFRR's

Just had my 2009 TDV8 Vogue SE MOT'd - only one issue;

The offside rear tyre is worn on the very inside at the top of the sidewall where it curves into the tread, almost through to the canvass! It can only be seen when up on a ramp. The general tread pattern is relatively even and the other 3 tyres are all fine. I remember seeing something on the forum about tyre wear / wheel alignment etc? Anyone got any ideas on this? I'd appreciate your comments if anyone has had a similar issue.

Thanks in advance

PJ

Not had an issue myself, but it'd have a good four wheel alignment check done. Could be upto £60, but will ensure all is correct. They should also highlight any issue and whether it will cause the wear you have.

Could be wear in the rubber bushes on the rear suspension otherwise. 2011 Range Rover Vogue SE 4.4 TDV8

+1 mjdronfield

1. Have rear bushes checked for wear (including tie rod)

2. Have all four wheels aligned .
Experience is the only genuine knowledge, but as time passes, I have forgotten more than I can remember Wink

Had the same problem, had it checked at full service and they replaced lower link bushes, about £40 each from memory, there's two. Then had full laser alignment. Sorted.

+1 for alignment.

Quite a lot of the kwik fits have the correct laser kit to do the job. Needs to be something like a hunter hawkeye to do the job properly.

But get the bushes checked over first, though i would have thought that the mot would have picked and wear up.... There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜

I had four wheel alignment done 2 weeks ago.

Used the "latest equipment" apparently
Found via this website:
http://www.alignmycar.co.uk/centre-locator-2/

For £100 they balanced all 4 wheels and did the alignment Alcohol and eBay is never a good mix

Gonna book it in for the laser treatment, found a local centre on the link that uses the Hunter Hawkeye kit so should all be sorted soon Thumbs Up

Hang on everyone....

All these solutions are all well and good but it's not discovering the root cause.

One question for you OP:

What tyre size are you running? (I have a hunch) Discovery 4 HSE

There goes my hunch!

There's lots of the slightly older cars out there on RRS size tyres, which can rub.

As mentioned by everyone else, a good 4 wheel alignment should help you diagnose further. Be aware though, I had a tracking issue on a brand new car from Land Rover, had it 4 wheel aligned and there was no change, so it was done AGAIN and this fixed it, Lord knows why the first attempt didn't work. Discovery 4 HSE

Just make sure you observe what they are doing and go armed with the correct values that they should be aiming for and a full model description for your car.....

Acording to the chap at quickfit he amount of folks oit there who had no idea of what they were actualld driving was staggering Rolling Eyes

I did mine after having the front track rods changed and the rear was spot on toe was out on the front and bizarrely the front camber was slightly out too, though only a tiny bit so i left it as you need a special tool to adjust it. There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜
