Rear Camera Replacement

Dan, I think I have the first gen rear view camera which only works after a hard bang of the fist with the image quality ranging from OK to shadowy shapes in black and white.

I know that I can update with a Hi Res version with yellow lines but would have to rewire and move the mounting point. Is there an alternative, I have seen mention of a CCD between the CMOS and Hi Res, if so id this a straight replacement and what is the cost of all the part I would need. There is a difference between knowing your sh!t and knowing you're sh!t

Its an easy DIY job as i did it on my last car.

Hi Jay,

Do you have any pics of the install by any chance? I got the camera but terrified of messing something else up when I start cutting African Bush Junkie ... in London!

Sorry but i don't.
If you want to do it then you could send me a PM and i would be able to talk you through it.
You just need a good soldering iron and some heat shrink.

There is a coax connection that you need to cut off the plug to and solder the yellow wires to.

If you do a search there may be an how to. I think stuart was going to do one.

its an easy one to do Thumbs Up 2020 Porsche Panamera Turbo Hybrid (V FAST)

Dan, if there is no plug and play upgrade, what is the cost of the original camera as I would rather have the original working (albeit with lower quality than some options) than just have a black screen most of the time which is what I have now.

Thanks in advance for your help There is a difference between knowing your sh!t and knowing you're sh!t

Dan,

Thanks for the quick reply, I, will stick with the original which I work out to be £182.40 with VAT unless the £400+ one has the same fittings and a better image in which case I would go for that.

I am also looking for the "Water Shedder" thing to protect my electronic boxes if that is still available to order.

I will pm you e-mail and have deleted the VIN from the post.

Is paypal best or do you prefer a normal credit card etc... There is a difference between knowing your sh!t and knowing you're sh!t

Sorry to keep adding, do you do the silver bulbs for the front indicator to get rid of the "fried egg" look. There is a difference between knowing your sh!t and knowing you're sh!t
