I'm guessing the landing speed of a big old jet like that is probably over 150kt….I wouldn't mind a Nissan truck that could do 175mph! |

Just did a little googling. The Nissan Fontera truck (US spec) is governed to 110 mph. If modified to allow full speed, one user reports 124mph. Standard approach speed for a B727 was quoted on one site at 130-150 knots depending on weight. Boeing lists the approach speed for the -100 at 124 kn and the -200 at 136 kn. Therefore, a Fontera can get in the way, be too slow and cause a much more serious crash than a standard 'gear up' landing. It also mentioned that no US airlines currently use the 727 for passenger service.
