Endless pool - anyone got one/tried them?

The last big job on the house is to do the ground floor, which includes lowering the floor. What I am missing is a pool and there is room to keep on digging a bit and put a small one in. Obviously, with an endless one I could keep swimming without having to turn round every 3 metres. Laughing

Anyone got one - or experienced them? Be interested to hear.

If you haven't seen one, this is what I mean.

...ok, this is the less cheap version. Laughing

I did have an indoor pool like that myself once.

This was before my garage was properly finished.

Flooding came right up to my driveway.

They had to close the road eventually.

Anyway - this is about endless swimming pools!

You've got an endless pool just outside your house. It's called Lake Lucerne. 2016 3.0 Vogue

You want to swim in it this time of year? Laughing

Actually, I did swim in it one November with a swimming wetsuit. It was still bloody cold.

I do swim in it in the summer.

Needs to be a really nice summer for the lake to get up to what I consider to be a pleasant temperature. I've been water skiing at Alpnach on a Saturday in November and snow skiing at Andermat on the following day. I was young and stupid then. 2016 3.0 Vogue

It's so I can train more frequently and harder, not because I'm sick of people laughing at how overweight I am and the state of my bikini line.

Hi Kurt, I have used one. they are ok if you want a fairly slow, relaxed swim but if you want to do fitness training and get your heart rate up a bit, you can quickly overcome the stream, even at max. I bumped my head a few times then gave up and went back to full size pool swimming.

By the way, if you do build your own pool, there is a company called thermapool which sells lining for the exterior which has had a lot of good publicity recenty.

Thanks DolphinBoy. I imagine you'd be swimming quite a lot quicker than me? Laughing
