Ouch - it pains me to think about the cost of that Big Cry

Still, at least you could make one of those V8 coffee tables like they have on Top Gear Whistle

Just out of interest Stephen, but as your RR is an Overfinch, am I right in assuming the engine had been mapped ? The reason I ask is that there seems to be a pattern developing with re-mapped engines. I personally know of other vehicles which had been mapped, boost pressures and fuelling increased = totally goosed engine and also cases of warped manifolds.

I carry out the independent roadworthy inspections for a large company who specialise in armoured landrovers & conversations, this week we discussed a TDV8 3.6 that suffered the same fate. One bent connecting rod. Even though they build engines for landrover & deal mainly with the military inc most the stuff you see in NI they can not source parts for these engines. They have offered me the scrap engine if they choose a new unit for me to have as spares. My point is even if not ideal these scrap engines could be cannibalised to make a good unit & why are the parts not available? Worse things happen at sea! Well thats what swmbo said when WRENS came to sea!!!

Is this becoming a more posted occurrence on 2007/2008 TDV8s, especially sports, or am I reading it wrong Confused

The ones I know of have been Sports where the engine and its management has been messed around with ! And by so called professional "bespoke" companies - yeah right - short term gains long term fluck up !

Yes Vogue, agree, just seems to be more posts occurring, I got rid of my Sport and havent been on rrsport for a couple of months, just seems to be too much of a coincidence, all early engines and most/some mapped Thumbs Up

Totally agree Rosco, The only RR engine in my opinion that can safely take a remap is the TD6, as it is a very understressed detuned BMW engine in std form. The rest should be left well alone - LR don't spend millions and tens of thousands of hours developing engines for some idiot with a laptop who thinks he knows better to mess it all up for short term gains and compromise engine longevity

Agreed, I have had a TD6 since 2005 and love it stock, bought a TDV8 sport and had it mapped, insane performance for a car of that size, sold it within 3 months, got to be a pay off somewhere, back to my S6 for fun Very Happy

I have not got an opinion on you two agreeing with each other.
Just a comment on the TDV8 being developed by Land Rover.
They were developed by Ford.
