Embarassed I didn't want to cause offence or stir it up! The wish he was in number 10 was tongue in cheek. It sounded better in my head.

Salmond is a knob. The snp is a one man band. He has not gone into detail on ONE point, he just spouts headlines and offers no substance.
Reducing the voting age to 16 is disgusting. It the act of a desperate party.
How can he possibly keep the pound! Scotland's and England's economies would have to be linked in order to have parity in value. Roll on September, everyone votes NO, and we start concentrating on building for the future together.... And salmond f***s off into the sunset..... Previously..

ditto; won't happen but we have ruined our relationship with the rest of the UK who now think we should f@@k off as we are a PITA, have seen it first hand and unfortunately have to agree Sad

I think the fact that if you're Scottish but live in England you don't qualify to vote speaks volumes but unfortunately I can see enough people caught up in the whole bandwagon to vote this through. I can't see an independent Scotland being a benefit to the masses... We'll see...

Anyway... It's the Calcutta Cup today... More important things to worry about... Regards

I've yet to find anyone who thinks independence would be a good thing for Scotland.

(I want to be) president Salmond is talking about writing cheques his country can't cash. Misquote from Top Gun, but seems quite apt in the circumstances.

The only people who would benefit are the republicans in Ireland, if Scotland can go it alone then they get to demand the same. Personally I like my neighbours being part of Great Britain and think we'd all be the poorer for it breaking up, Scotland was bankrupt when they joined the union so we must be doing something right.

Not to be too flippant but i dont think many in england give too much of a toss!

I lived in Edinburgh for 6 years and loved it, think Scotland is a beautiful place etc but realistically cant see how it would work, and as has been said the "framework" set out by the snp is just a whole load of iffs and maybees. The vast majority of southerners cant see what all the fuss is about.

I kind of get the governed from westminster arguments but at the end of the day the Scottish identity is a strong one no matter where governance comes from. And given the rest of the world (read Americans) think we are all part of the "united states of Europe" i dont think the world view of Scotland will change if they were independent from a cultural standpoint.

Financially i cant see it makes a whole heap of sense to be independent but i am not in possession of all the facts and maybe Mr salmond has some the rest of us dont........

In the end given im not Scottish and thus cant currently vote however could temporarily move back to my flat for a month or 2 and get a vote (which i wont) im just a little ambivalent to the whole thing. There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜

People shouldn't make an irrevocable decision based on whether they like or dislike a politician. Politicians come and go.

he doesn't, that's why he cant provide a straight answer to specific questions. Man's an erse! Saw him and his flunkies on a flight to Schiphol about a year ago where they had commandeered the entire business class section and at least 3 guys were stopped from approaching him to ask questions as it was claimed he was too busy. Shame he spent the whole flight joking about with the erse lickers that accompanied him. Didn't see him do a jot of work either. '08 Audi S6 Avant 5.2 V10 with Milltek non-resonated. Vrrrrrrmmmmmph

Well, we get the same thing here with two (so far) votes in Quebec about whether to separate. (It's interesting that you can keep having votes until you get the answer you want.)

I remember separatism being explained by Sir Humphrey to Jim Hacker on Yes, Minister. Hacker was told that, when the UK granted other countries independence, that when drawing borders, they always made sure there was a large ethnic group within the country that wanted their own country. He said it made the new country preoccupied with internal issues and, therefore, no trouble internationally. He said it had worked "brilliantly" and that India/Pakistan/East Pakistan had been the best example. Banging Head

Regarding Scotland, if it leaves, the Union flag isn't going to look very good: white with a bunch of red lines. Crying or Very sad

A good point, look at what happens when the union departs, you end up with the likes of Mugabe dispensing his justice for all.
