2 quick questions

1. Can you still use the parcel shelf if you fit a cargo barrier behind the rear seats. I don't want to keep removing the cargo barrier each time I need to have the parcel shelf in use.

2. Has anyone on this forum put a vinyl wrap on their roof. If so could you post a photo please so I can see what it looks like. It's a long story but I need to protect the roof from long term sea salt damage. This question is not a joke.

Thanks,
Chris Travelling around in circles again.

There are a good few tuners and the like that have done wraps on the L322 roofs, look at the wheeler dealers episode for evidence.

To me i'd just give it a really good few layers of wax and strip it off and redo every year.

Washing the roof is a pain and a lot of places that wash cars miss it and dont do it properly.

Set it in access mode and get a step ladder out so you can get right along the grooves with a woolen or microfibre wash mitt with lots of good sudds and leave them for a few minutes to work before hosing off.

You'd be suprised at the crud held on the lips of the ridges and in the rails! FFRR MY06 facelift With TDV8 Alloys Zeros/ATR's

Kingpleb; totally agree with your advice Thumbs Up and as my question re a possible vinyl wrap for the roof is for me a 'maintenance' question rather than a Chav upgrade I shall explain a little further for the forum

Where I am living and having to park my motor is alongside a sea wall. The car is regularly sprayed with salt water which is then dried by the sun and leaves a visible white crust or the car is covered in some form of fine sand. My accommodation is on the first floor of an apartment. There is no way to wash and wax the car on a regular basis other than use a bucket of warm water to rinse the salt off by throwing it over car. So I have decided to put some form of vinyl wrap on the roof to protect the paintwork from the salt. A lot of the local cars whose owners have never bothered about paint protection have blistered lacquer on their car roofs. Some of these cars are only 3 years old. I kid you not.

For you detailing fanatics out there this is how I prepped the car before leaving the UK
1. Paint correction with pads and Maquiers products. (I never could spell it)
2. AG Super resin polish
3. 1 coat of poorboys black hole glaze
4. 1 coat of poorboys natty's blue paste wax
5. 2 coats of FK1000P
and it only lasted 5 weeks before the waxes broke down under the sun and salt.

SO - I'm now thinking of a subtle black carbon wrap to go with the Java black paint work when I next return to the UK. Very Happy Travelling around in circles again.

What about that spray on stuff you can get?

If you could clean the roof off and dry it and do the masking off somewhere else the spray stuff would work as it's a similar thing you just do it yourself and it peels off when you want it too. I can't for the life of me recall it's name though!! FFRR MY06 facelift With TDV8 Alloys Zeros/ATR's

I get a lot of salt water on mine from my Surf Ski and I just make sure it gets plenty of wax and sealer , also good for sun protection as red is not the best colour out here . 2008 MY Supercharged
