Deployable side steps restoration

Hi all, I am brand new to this site... I bought a 07 RR on Friday (4.2 supercharged) with deployable sidesteps... The car is in really good condition but the sidesteps have been scratched on the sides and there are stains on the upper area... Tried a few cleaners on stains but not shifting... Has anyone encountered similar issues and do they have any suggestions?

Look forward to responses

James

Hi and welcome.

I have the same corrosion on the silver (aluminium parts) of mine.
My plan is to rub them done with wet and dry and re-lacquer them.
If that doesn't work i'm going to get the silver parts wrapped and see how long it lasts.
As for the stains i would try a steamer as that get most sh Censored t off.

I hope this helps Thumbs Up 2020 Porsche Panamera Turbo Hybrid (V FAST)

To deploy the steps for cleaning, start the car and put in off road height, then switch off.

Then, put the ignition on but don't start the engine (pos 1), press and hold the roof mounted button to deploy the steps (5 secs +)

Hi Jayboy. Sounds like your sidesteps are in similar condition to
Mine... I contacted a guy I know that does wrapping and he is going to take a look to see firstly if it's possible and secondly if it will look any good (ie so no creases or old scratches show up underneath)

Will post up his reply as soon as I know

Badger Anodising UK ?

There is a firm called badgeranodising.co.uk based in Birmingham. Last year, I posted badly scratched original aluminium Range Rover SC tread plates to them for refurbishing. The service, quality of work, turnaround and price were first class. Less postage, it was only £80 cash to refurb 4 x tread plates. They now look like new (new RR ones would have cost in the region of £400).

http://www.badgeranodising.co.uk/metal-polishing/

Badger specialise in bespoke aluminium/ metal refurbishment work covering lengths of materials up to 4 metres.”

Peter @ Badger says if any of you want to consider Badger refurb'ing your steps (or any other items), he will happily discuss by telephone; and/ or you can email him pictures of the areas worst affected; and/or you can deliver them for work to commence and/or assessment (delivery by post, courier or in person).

Badger does work for very particular, serious classic vehicle owners and if they commit to doing work for you, you should not be disappointed.

Just a thought Idea
