I have had my Disco 1 for 14 years and only just put it on a sorn as the FF is used more now. The Mrs has had the 110 for 21 years, both still run well, both reliable too.....but both V8's....I don't care about mpg |

BMW 7 Series. The diesels can have pretty good mileage and still keep some luxury and comfort. Even the petrolmodelsxsrn't too bad.

The 535 is great but not as frugal as you would think. Mine never bettered 28mpg, which could be put down to towing and my heavy foot! If you dont need the speed the 520 is a much cheaper and more plentiful alternative.

I'm not quite in bangernomics territory but I bought a 55 plate Skoda Superb (Oxymoron edition) 1.9 tdi. Paid 2 grand for it. Currently on 139k miles and adding 1200 miles a week to it. Comfy, quiet and basically a long wheelbase VW Passat. No wonder the cabbies all love them, dirt cheap to run. 50mpg is easy to achieve.

That's the thing, you can have two of them and if one breaks you can still just hop into the other one |
