TDV8 Surging

Hi All

Over the past week my RR has started to surge when traveling at a constant speed. I have read the fault codes with my IID tool and there are not relevant faults coming up (I have a few faults relating to the entertainment system)

I have noticed the surging at 60 mph and 30 mph, the surging does go away when I accelerate but comes back when I try to cruise along again.

The RR has 1/4 tank of fuel and generally gets fed BP stuff (not supermarket). Can't feel any additional heat off the brakes, etc?

Any suggestions before I have to put it to the stealers? 56 TDV8 Vogue SE

Had a similar thing in a VW Tiguan (2 litre diesel)...turned out to be fuel filter...might be worth a shot at a cheap fix

Just thought I would update this thread as I have now solved the problem.

Having used injector cleaner with no success I was advised that the passenger side exhaust was smoking badly when I accelerated.

I read the codes with my IID tool and the only relevant code was P023D - This is a boost correlation error, boost not s expected.

This error and the smoking exhaust led me to look at the air intake pipework. I found a 3" split in the top intercooler to plenum air pipe. This has now been replaced and the surging has stopped and the smoke from the exhaust on acceleration has stopped 56 TDV8 Vogue SE

IID tool was very useful as it allowed me to check if MAF's & EGR's were working in addition to the fault code.

The forum here gave me plenty of advice abut the smoking, but nothing really on the fault code.

Information on the fault code came from workshop manual (downloaded via forum) disco3 forum and one of the SSR forums 56 TDV8 Vogue SE

Was going to suggest rear brakes, but splitting hose was also on the list as they seem quite common on tdv8 nowadays..... There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜

I have a similar problem on my 2005 s/c. Around 30 mph and the rev counter is going up and down constantly,( car surging slightly) Could it be the egr valve needing a clean??

Thanks.
