Trying to lock the upper tailgate tonight won't lock on the latch when closed tried lock unlock on key and fob FTC but still stays open any clues chaps  _____________________________________________________

If it's anything like the lower ones mate try stripping it and giving a good clean and a lube!

Edit - bit late for us old timers now, so didn't read the original post properly, and posted fix for lower tailgate......

Agree with above, look at lubricating the latch mechanism to make sure it's free.

You'll have to strip the inner plastic trim off the interior of the tailgate to check the wiring.

Just finished putting lock together it was a broken spring inside the catch so I pulled it longer bent a hook re attached it to the opening slider inside the plastic and hey presto all good, blooming springs eh a pain in the a$$ and saved a few quid now for a wash the cover can go on tomorrow

Excellent news.

It's usually the bottom tailgate that has the issues from what I can see.

At least you know how it works now.
