Rear offside brake disk is red hot. Is this another common fault? I don't know how the electronic handbrake works could it be related?

Rear calipers binding is a very common fault - most likely this, just do a search and you should find lots of threads  2007 Zermatt Silver TDV8 Vogue SE - now sold but was a great car!

And for you issue you are probably best getting a new set of rear discs and pads and a new caliper for that side. FFRR MY06 facelift With TDV8 Alloys Zeros/ATR's
Mantec Sump Guard, Rigid Load liner, MY10 BT upgrade.

Had mine done a couple of months ago. New caliper from Britparts at £86.22 incl postage and fitting £25 by
local garage. No need to return old caliper on this occasion.

Have just done mine (nearside overheating).

Was caused by the Calliper Piston being seized.

Re-manufactured Callipers and pads from Dan at Duckworths (Genuine Land Rover rather than part!!), fairly easy job to do, and bleeding the brakes with a Gunson's Easybleed kit was the easiest brake bleed I have ever done

I would always change both sides, from experience on previous cars (although not FF admittedly) if you are having problems with 1 side the other is not usually far behind it so you may as well do both sides together rather than having to do the other side in a couple of months (and probably trashing another set of pads in to the bargain!)

As soon as the one went on the 06 SC, I replaced both. Haven't had an issue since. MY 2010 5.0 SC Galway green and sand interior!!
Have the Faultmate MSV2 Extreme to be tinkering with the settings etc. !!
