IIDTool: to BT or not to BT?

Hi there all you FF owners,

Newbie here on this forum and newbie FF L322 owner (owned a P38 2.5 DSE for 6 years).
Picked up my 2004 Vogue Td6 (MY2005 with the touchscreen) in Cairns Blue.

I'm looking for a powerfull diagnostic tool and very interested in the IID Tool. The only question I have is if the BT version is also capable of working on the dashboard display (if not a Ipad or Samsung at hand)? Couldn't find a clear answer altough I read trough almost all threads (or I must have missed something Embarassed )

Many thanks to this great forum I already have so much information on my car! Bow down

BR from Belgium!

Hi BR,
2 things to consider in addition:
- the iPad / tablet app (coming for Android). It allows much advanced live values, better CCF, more simple diagnostics and has quick links to certain, often used functions, etc. Well worth having if you do all your own work. If you only need something for occasional work and emergencies, a regular IIDTool will do the job just fine.
- the VIN lock: our new VIN lock policy allows the use of the IIDTool on any LR for standard diagnostic functions (fault read clear, live values, control I/O, service functions). A regular IIDTool only has enough memory for 1 vehicle type (in your case 2002-05 L322) whereas the IIDTool BT has more memory and will cover all LR's by the end of 2014. This, in effect, gives you the equivalent of a Hawkeye/Lynx Pro at 1/3 the price plus the enhanced diagnostic functions for 1 vehicle.

Here too, tho, if all you need is occasional personal use, a regular IIDTool will be fine.

Sorry to hijack the thread Rangie4fun but wanted to ask...

Steve

Is there is an option to return my IIDTool (purchased last month via Island 4x4) and upgrade it to the BT version. IIRC there was something on here about paying the difference + upgrade fee?

The IIDTool is great, but now seen the ease of use of a mates BT version, and its now bugging me.

Paul

Edited/ added.. The Gap Team PM'd me on this one and provided a full answer...Thanks for the speedy response Patrick / Steve. GONE 2010 Facelifted 3.6 TDV8 - Stornoway Grey + 22" Overfinch Olympus

Hi Steve,

Thanks for the explanation: very good news and for that reason I decided for the BT version. But just had to know if I would be able to use it when no Ipad at hand. So everything cleared now. Ordered yesterday form Island4x4 and and just waiting to get started Cool

Cheers
