Hi all, hoping you can shed some light on an annoying trait my new baby has;
Just four months in, and every thing is wonderful on my 10.5MY 5.0 SC AB, well almost anyway!
When it's 'cold' she starts fine, revs go immediately to around 2000rpm then drop almost immediately to around 1500 for about 30 seconds, then to tick over - around 700rpm. So far so good.
When she's warm however, say only having stopped for, perhaps 10 minutes, restart the engine and she revs to the same 2000 rpm and then slowly falls to about 1500 rpm again. She takes much longer to fall to tick over - up to about a minute, before dropping to tick over gain.
It's as though the engine, or it's electronics cannot distinguish between cold and warm?
Returned it to supplying distributor and so far, they cannot cure the problem.
Is this normal for this engine?
The distributor tells me they have rebooted the car to factory settings, but it's still the same?
Full service later, and no change?
Can anyone advise, or indeed, confirm that theirs is the same?

I must admit I misread your post and only waited for 10 seconds, but my car revs to 2000 rpms and directly drops to 700 rpms.

I rarely have the car idling but I can't recall having your issue, when engine being warm.

Nah... The car was too cold. Sorry! It was like 45 degrees (if mid is 90 degrees)

It revs to 2000 rpms. Drops instantly to 1500 rpms and after 20 seconds or so drops to 700 rpms.

In other words just like yours, when it's not warm.

I just tried mine from cold.

It rises to 2000rpm only for a second on startup then drops to 1400rpm, after 40 seconds drops to 1200 and then very quickly drops to 750rpm by 45 seconds.

Start engine after 10 minuts from warm resulting in...

Revs to 2000 rpms, drops directly to 1400 rpms and sits there for around 8 seconds and the drops to 750 rpms. Range Rover SV Autobiography LWB 5.0 S/C -17
