dust sealing td6 airbox

Hi,
Have been reading that a few AULRO members in Oz have destroyed the turbo due to dust coming through the airbox/filter when they have been driving on dirt roads. Not sure for how long tho.
Does anyone have any suggestions as to how we could over come this problem.
At the moment my beast is getting the gearbox/converter rebuilt so I cant have a look and see if there could be a solution.
Thanks

The usual way to stop dust getting injested to to raise the engine air intake to a higher level, above the worst of the dust, by means of a raised air intake of the kind used for wading. You can get them with an additional air intake filter incorporated. Some people point the raised air intake to the rear, not sure with what result.

Of which NO ONE makes one for the TD6 Sad

The best way is to source a spare wing and run something similar to a P38 along the whole wing and up the A pillar. When doing this you will find all the plastic piping/ducting for the air inlet are just loose and not well sealed so either use Ductape to seal them up(its easier to pull apart when needed) or silicone them up for a true seal.

Around the air filter cover there should be a soft squishy material to seal it in, this can lose squishy-ness overtime so is possibly best being pulled off and using some kind of draught excluder foam material to replace it. FFRR MY06 facelift With TDV8 Alloys Zeros/ATR's

Do you have any links, cub? I am in the process of converting our TD6 to a travel vehicle. First trip to dusty Cappadocia is planned in June... Shocked

To SteveMFr,
Are you refering to the aulro site?
If yes, its www. aulro.com.
then click on forum then scroll down to "Pinnacles". There is a section just for the L322.
You will find various posts re the dirt and filter and what problems they have encountered.
By the way its free to join. Very Happy

cheers
