Not sure why anyone would buy the "Sport" model with the lowest power output engine though? Fine in the L405 but I'll bet not a lot of Sports were ordered with the SDV6. It would be like having the sheep in wolf's clothing TBH. The SDV8 has a far higher output with smoother power delivery and it's almost as quick as the 5.0 'Charger but with no loss of economy.

Understand what you're saying, but its the TEN GRAND price jump that leaves me puzzled! Where's the money gone? Some fancier cow peelings and a power boost doesn't cover it IMHO. |

Never does - look at everything else with the same engine but a different tune and a different badge. Germans have been doing it for years.

IIRC at the launch the only options in the UK were the 5.0SC and the 3.0SDV6 engine.

Yep, launched with SDV6 and SC V8 but with promise of TDV6 from Jan 14. Wonder if they actually made any at all in the end!? SDV8 now an option, as is Hybrid. |

Just look at the 3.6 tdv8 in the SSRR, doesn't seem to have a long life and IMO its due to it being in such a tight space and the way the average one is driven.

Not sure why it should necessarily share any packaging problems of the old Discovery 3-based one. Can't be a lot of difference between L405 and L494 in terms of space under the bonnet, given they will both have been designed from the outset to use it. |

Having seen the underbonnet of both, the continuance of the SSRR to have a tighter packed engine bay is there.

Can someone explain what SSRR stands for?

Presumably semi-skimmed, just as bad as full-fat (or perhaps I shouldn't say that here). |
