Roof Bars

Hello, quick question, do these require you to remove the plastic covers on the fixing points or do they fit straight in on a 2007 FF?:

Also, (I'm a complete novice to this luggage thing) will a normal roof box fit these or do I require a more light weight thing as these are 'sport' bars.

Any help appreciated.
Cheers

You need to remove the plastic covers for those.

I think you break the covers when removing them, but replacements are available - could be wrong on the breaking bit.

They may be too wide for a roof box - depends on which one you have.

I have Thule bars - not as neat, but I don't leave them on when I'm not using them anyway. They are also wider as they overhang the side of the roof slightly, which is useful for carrying more kit.

I'm in Peterborough if you want to try out the Thule bars....

ps - try the Search feature too Thumbs Up

Can't help on the roof bars questions, but the roof rail fixing covers are NOT available separately - they can only be obtained with the complete (unpainted) roof trim. I don't think there'll be any need to damage the covers to fix your roof rails ?

Thumbs Up Where do you go after one of these . . . ?

Thank you for the help - and the guidance (searching!). I think I'm going to look at the Thule solution as its seems the right one for me (after a bit of looking about). Also, viewed a YouTube video where the guy cuts the fixing covers to the fit the rails. Don't fancy that, given they will only get light use.

Thanks again

I have the Sports Bars, you just fold the little flaps up, no need to break anything!

If you fit the roof rails and movable bars, then you need to break off the flaps (i.e. there is no going back after fitting roof rails!)

Sports Bars instructions (and most other accessories) are on LR TOPIx website Thumbs Up

You can fit a roof box, but check it comes with adaptors to make it attach to the slot in the middle of the bars, large square nut should do it!

I have a set of the sports bars and can also confirm you dont have to break off the covers. LR do a roof box, but best to get one off of fleabay and modify it a bit😜 There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜

I've got a pair of Whispbar roof bars for my 2007 Vogue. I had a similar set up on my Q7 and was really pleased with them, and as the name implies, they are really quiet.

If you want the flush look, i.e. no bar poking out past the mounting point, then you need the 110cm bars and the Smartfoot fitting kit no. is PRK399. The plastic flaps in the roof flip up and sit inside the feet of the bars, so don't need removing. I have no vested interest in these bars, they just work well for me!

It's not a very good photo, but gives you an idea of what the bars look like with my very large Thule roof box (I think it might be an Atlantis 780).

Anyway, hope this helps. Thumbs Up

No worries. Hope I'm not contravening any forum rules by recommending a supplier. I got mine from Elliot Oxley at roofbox.co.uk (The Roof Box Company). Again, I have no connection with this company, but they gave a great service and a good deal, so I personally think that's worth mentioning. Thumbs Up
