Waterless car cleaning

Ok, this in itself is something that just sounds wrong, full stop.

I am, however, considering it as a solution when on hols or when it needs a little quick spit and polish over.

I am a 2 buckets man, clay bar, and glaze finish man usually but this "squirt on, wipe off and buff" stuff seems to be very good.

Has anyone used it ? Is this where I put the car details and a bit about myself ?........

I use Showroom Shine on my wifes Citroen and my caravan. It is brilliant stuff and leaves a very nice deep shine. It is very good on the plastic trims as well and does not leave grey marks or streaks. Once applied it does a good job of repelling the crap. It's quick as well. I can do the whole car in about 10 minutes. Only place i dont put it is the windscreen of course.

If the car or caravan are very dirty, I wash and dry first. If the surface are just a little dusty then out comes the showroom shine. I will no doubt use it on the RR when I am on caravan sites and need to tidy her up, but not if she is heavily soiled. I have not noticed any scratching or swirling after using the stuff, so I guess it is doing what it says on the tin and lifts the dust away from the paintwork.

It is a great product to have in the locker or boot of the car. Great on the caravan, removes all the black streaks and brilliant on the windows inside and out. Also use it on bathroom mirrors, stops them steaming up. There are a lot that claim the same thing but Showrrom shine seems to do the job.

I have never used clay as yet. But I intend to quite soon.

I use the Maguires version it fabuloso. Only use it if very lightly dusty though as its its no replacement for soap and water, the dust obviously does not disintegrate...

That video does nothing to allay my fears of using waterless car cleaner sprays, the dirt must be collected in the cloth used to wipe it off so you are in effect wiping your car over with abrasives. Crying or Very sad Crying or Very sad Agueroooooooooo. 93-20
I swear you will never see anything like this ever again....watch it..drink it in.

The one I have seen does show wiping with one cloth and then buffing with another and they do say "use our tested microfibre cloth"....though I appreciate it's a huge leap of faith ! Is this where I put the car details and a bit about myself ?........

I don't think anyone with a bit of common sense would ever use the stuff on very dirty paintwork and I agree you need lots of micro-fibre cloths.

But between washes and for keeping the light dust and bird lime at bay, they do the job and do it well.

I use Eco Touch between main washes and it does a great job, always use small micro-fibre towels and have enough to keep changing to clean ones. Not had an issue at all with any damage to the paint work. They are used in many hot and sandy countries where water is at a premium or hard to access. Also works amazingly well on glass and household tv screens, mirrors etc. Tom

The water you save by not washing the car is used up in cleaning all the clothes you need to use instead.

I would only tend to use this stuff on a clean car which kind of defeats the object I guess, especially with all the recent sand we have had in the rain as this is one hell of an abrasive on your paint.

If you're bothered about the paint, I'd be wary of totally waterless-washing if it was at all dirty. Been using Optimum No Rinse for some time (albeit not on the RR, which rarely gets washed) - using it is counter-intuitive but it works really well, and you can quickly do a car with a smallish bucket of water.
