Gearbox and other oil changes at 90,000m

Hi all, I have read much about changing oils and filters (plus megaflushing) on the BMW and other 6 speed gearboxes but my question relates to a 4.4TDV8 and the 8 speed gearbox.

I just had a quote from a local LR Independant to change the oil and filter as my car is now around 90/- miles and I am going to drive to Geneva soon.

Apparently the filter is about £150 because it comes with a sump pan and the recommended oil is £41 per litre and I am looking at 8.5 litres, so once you include a bit of labour we are talking about £600 + to change the oil in a car tha is driving and changing gears like silk.......

Would you, or is the 8 speed box deemed rather more reliable than some of the earlier versions?

What else would you think about changing like Diff Oils etc?

Thanks

Don't know if you've seen this previous quite recent thread David for you to perhaps benchmark costs and/ or the merits of doing or not doing it?

Seems to relate to 6sp but maybe helpful enough to try and gauge costs Thumbs Up

£41 a litre seems a bit excessive. Might be worth establishing exactly what oil it is and sourcing it from site sponsors.

Thanks Stan, I think I read pretty much everything on 3.6/4.4 TDV8's and model year changes before buying one but I have never seen a conversation which mentions oil and filter changes on the 8 speed boxes hence the question.

There are certainly a lot of 8 speed conversations in that lst but I haven't seen any which address my question bit if I'm wrong (it has been known) can someone point me to it please.

Is RRPhil the auto man, perhaps he can spread some light!!! 2016 (L405) Autobiography in Black with Ivory - for ULEZ

Is it still under LR warranty if so I would go with the service recommendations as the slippery Censored will use anything not to pay out
