Halogen to xenon

Has anyone ever changed the halogen headlight unit (fitted to some hse) to a xenon unit fitted on the vogue models.
If so was it plug and play or a bit more involved.
Cheers

I would love to know as well.
The lights are ok,but when I'm out bush I need something better.
I do have a pair of spotties, but there's alot of frigging around the mount them as I have the A bar and they are a very tight fit if I put them in.

cheers

I am pretty sure this has been discussed a few times. Not sure if we got to a definitive answer though.

Can't see why you can't swop them, but you'd need ballasts and resistors and connectors etc etc.....

That was little cubs original thread.

This may help ;

Thanks everyone for the replies.

Just to clarify, at the moment the high and low beams are both halogen, as fitted to some hse models.
What I would like to do is change this to a xenon unit from the vogue model.
As there isn't a projector type lens in the halogen headlamp I will have to buy a complete headlamp unit from a vogue model and not just drop in a xenon kit from ebay.

All that make sense !!!

As self levelling is standard and headlamp wash wipe is fitted it meets all the requirements for the annual control so in theory its just a case of dropping in a complete xenon headlight unit.

But after some research it seams that the xenon unit has 8 wires running to it where as the halogen unit has 4.
If anyone has a diagram what the 8 wires are for that would make things a lot easier.

Cheers

I don't have a wiring diagram for the Xenon lights but I think the wires are as follows,

Main Beam
Dipped beam / Main beam Xenon
Dipped beam shutter
Earth
Headlight Leveling 4 wires.

an alternative to putting in original LR b-xenons is to get yourself aftermarket bi-xenon projectors and hid xenon kit.

I've done that on my car (high beams) and what a difference it makes.

Connection is as easy as pie - connect low beams to bulb and high beams to wires that comes with the projectors and Voila! Bobs your uncle.

Now if I were you I would do both lights with these bi-xenons - connection is as above, just use the wires for low beams for both bulbs and high beams to the wires of the projector.

Btw with if you fit the projectors, you don't have to buy other headlamps

These are the colours and diagrams for the two headlights for the all halogen set-up.
There are only 7 wires to each headlight , if you need a separate wire for the xenon shutter this could be operated of the halogen main beam. ie when main beam is selected it would also operate the Xenon shutter into the Main beam position on the Xenon lamp.
If the images aren't clear enough, pm me your email address and I will send you the original wiring diagrams for your car. Thumbs Up
For some reason wiring diagrams don't upload to the original quality.

[for some reason - images - quality]
forum resizes/transmogrifies them Twisted Evil

but does seem to specifically affect wiring diagrams Confused

Better to upload as a pdf ? .

nicedayforit: Thumbs Up hundred percent correct. I used the wiring for the high beams for the shutters to work
