I've had my FFRR (2008MY 3.6 TDV8 VSE) for coming up to a year, and it's been brilliant - the best car I've owned by miles. I like maintaining my stuff properly, so, in addition to having the car serviced as per the LR FFRR service schedule and fixing defects when they arise, does anyone have any suggestions for what should be on a preventative maintenance 'top ten' list?

Here's what I've come up with so far:

1. Keep it in a garage when not in use
2. Regular wash/clay/compound/wax to protect paint
3. Intermediate engine oil/filter change between service intervals
4. Gearbox oil megaflush change (interval?)
5. Clean mud from rear wheel arches, repaint/reseal as necessary
6. Leave engine to idle for 30sec before shutting down to cool turbos
7. Change diff and transfer box oils (intervals?)
8. ?
9. ?
10. ?

8. Make sure you change valves with each new set of tyres to avoid corrosion and looking like a prat on an esso forecourt

check and replace as necessary, wheel nuts. They swell and you can't get the wheels off without a socket, hammer and long brace.

periodically check that the rear pads are free to move in the rear calliper/pad carriers, otherwise they will seize and cause the rear brake to overheat. There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜

If keeping towball in place (to stop people getting too close behind at junctions) then remove and replace in socket regularly to prevent seizing. Previous cars:
S-Max 2007-2013 (only diesel I've had, good car but expensive when diesely bits go wrong, so what's the point?)

Because they are a pain in the butt and any one who has the ability to jack you 3 ton car will also have a universal locking nut remover . 2008 MY Supercharged
