United Kingdom 2010 Range Rover Autobiography 5.0 SC V8 Causeway Grey

Can anyone answer the above question or even try it in theirs?

Will the screen/headunit still work if the dvd/sat nav controller is faulty?

Hi Rich I seem to remember reading on this forum or one of the other Land Rover ones that if the sat nav unit is faulty then it can bring the whole system down. You would need to do a search. The fact there is no red light from the front of the fibre optics does tend to indicate it is something at the front of the setup that is faulty. Or a break in the cabling somewhere. A normal fibre optic cable tester can test for this in a computer network environment but I don't know if there is a tester available to the public for the car setup. What you can do is take the sat nav unit out and locate the fibre cable and shine a strong light down it and check the rear connector and see if it is lit. You would need to check the rave manual for the wiring route to see where it starts and ends so you know you are checking the correct cabling. The cable may feed to another device first so the light won't get to the back. It is a very slow and labour intensive operation.
Good luck if you do it

Never thought about shining a light through it haha.

Just waiting for Craig to get back to me about a head unit and I'll go from there.

Yes Rich an old IT trick, showing my age now lol. It is cheaper and quicker than setting up the £1k plus fibre tester. Just for checking for breaks or bad terminations. Traded in my Audi TT 225 for my Range Rover TD6 Autobiography in Java Black. Range Rover now sold.

Right....
New head unit. Still not working
New DVD/sat nav module. Still not working.
New unit is plugged in and still no lights on the unit or a red light coming through the optic wire.

Now what??

Just unplugged the fibre optic cable and had a look in the boot, i unplugged the main optic cable that loops to everything and there is a red light flashing! Ignition is not on.

As soon as I plug in the optic cable into the back of the head unit, there is no red light coming through to the back!

Hi Rich, your not having much luck with the sound system. The issue my car had was with the amp, it didn't look as if it had been damaged by water but it was faulty. I changed it for a second hand one and it worked for a few months. Then it happened again, as I said in a previous reply I haven't got to the bottom of my cars issues. I did buy an IIDtool and it did read a couple of amp faults. I will be buying another amp as soon as I get time or trying to get one of the faulty ones repaired.
Have you had the system on any diagnostics?
The problem with going to a Land Rover dealer is they will charge a couple of hundred pounds to diagnose the fault and then probably would have done the same as what you have done until it is fixed.
I can't think of anything else except if the dealer is doing all the replacement get them to replace the amp and the blue-tooth module.
Has anyone advised you to get the system reprogrammed? If you have changed all these components they may need to be configured to the car. Just a thought.

Think i'm going to cut my loses haha. It's already one thing after another with this car. Was hoping to be able to tidy it up and be happy with it but it seems like it could be £1000+ just to sort the stereo out which I'm not prepared to pay.

Luton. Don't mind travelling.

A bloke who was recommended to me wants £60 an hour to look into it. Can't spend that much, it could take days.

I don't blame you Rich, I have spent £5000 plus in the last year on various things that have broken. I still have to fix the sound system again. Will be driving my car for the first time in about three weeks tomorrow and I am wondering if it is going to throw any new things at me. I had to start it today and get the suspension to pump itself up it had decided to go to sleep at the front. Sad Big Cry Traded in my Audi TT 225 for my Range Rover TD6 Autobiography in Java Black.
