Even if it isn't he could be tarnished!!

If it is then it's getting to the stage where it would be easier to name those around through the 70s, 80s & 90s not involved in abuse than those that were!!!

^ I was (only just the 60s) and yet I managed to get through without abusing anyone or being abused.

What on earth is wrong with these people (sorry Sir Cliff - I know there's no evidence yet!!)

I honestly believe that some of these 'abusees' (if thats the correct word!) are just in it for the money! I mean, allegedly its of a 16 year old over 30 years ago!!

I cant remember what I was doing last week, never mind 30 years ago!

^ I agree! Seems a bit far fetched that recent revelations about Rolf Harris and others makes people suddenly remember a trauma of such monumental proportions that it takes all this time to come forward. I know some people are ashamed, or embarrassed, but 30 years? With Cliff Richard? What did he do? Force him to don a striped jacked, white trousers and sing Summer Holiday? I'm not so sure about this being made up - maybe in some cases. I remember more than 10 years ago when Jonathan King was convicted, I knew someone who went to a party with some ex-radio 1 people and they were all saying they knew that about it - yet no one did anything. Seems strange that case didn't start other cases like Savile did.

With regard to Cliff, remember the case of Lord MacAlpine? This is all much better left to the police and the justice system rather than trial by the internet and twitter.

I think the problem is two-fold:-

1. These days, it's far easier to report abuse cases and the victims to be treated with decency and seriousness. The problem there is that, unfortunately, it opens the door for many false allegations.

2. The modern world's interpretation of 'sexual abuse' has changed since the 60's / 70's. So a 'crime' back then probably wouldn't have been treated as such. More an inconvenience. These days (look at the workplace for a good example), it's so easy to be accused of 'abuse' even when it wasn't meant that way.

I'm not defending or attacking the allegations against CR in any way here, I agree with Kurt that it's best to let the justice system do what they feel is the most appropriate and, hopefully, the facts will become clear. Si. <This is my name.

I eat rat poison.

A man ain't truly been insulted until he stands buck naked in front of a woman and she didn't even notice. Or care.
