Do away with VED and apply the same amount of tax to fuel instead.

Then those who use the most fuel pay the most tax.

Too simple for those in power to grasp I expect.

Signed- I also think sticking it on fuel is the fairest overall way. Given that they base it on phoney baloney emissions anyhow; more fuel=more tax.
