Ok, so this probably isn't the most worrying issue an FFRR owner will have to contend with but still.......should I enhance my TDV8 FFRR with a full set of mudflaps??

I've bought them - they're sat in the barn - & I've positioned them to see how they look. But... I can't decide on the look.

Then, to top it off I'm worried that by fitting them I may make it easier for the rear bumper to get ripped off when negotiating ruts / streams / approaches & departures etc.

My wheels fill the mudflaps so they don't look like pointy out ears or anything but....

What is the concensus on the look?

IMO, don't bother, looks far better without the flaps, yes the body gets a little dirtier but you just got to wash it more.....and I live on a B road that gets muddy with all those tractors too.

If you do fit and then decide you don't like you'll have 2 holes in the front lower panel where you have to screw through to fit the front flaps.

I looked at a fellows FF in MCB same as mine and thought long and hard on the look......without better for me  If it dont work.......burn it!

If the IId tool cant fix it.......burn the FF.

If the FF cant be fixed......buy a Land Cruiser!

If the LC cant be fixed..............................................BUY a horse !!

Not FFRR specific advice, but, in general, mud flaps don't last long if you're off roading. My Disco came with them. It doesn't have them anymore. It wasn't my choice, they just go pretty fast.

A lot depends on the colour of your car IMHO, I think black/ dark colours look awful with flaps, but the lighter colours are ok. Also tyre size has a big visual affect. Std 255 tyres look skinny sat behind a set of flaps - but 275's look  2021 L405 Vogue SE 4.4 V8 DIESEL ~ #17

I've got 285s on so the 'flaps would be filled but having a hole in the side if they ever come off is a no no AFAIC.

Oh, and I agree about dark colours not suiting 'flaps - especially when badly fitted and pointing out at the bottom. Seen a few like that and the class of the car is immediately wiped.

I don't especially like them. I wouldn't put them on my car. Having said that, the car came with them on, and I'm not that bothered about taking them off.

For the practical side I like them. Mine is stornaway and I think the dark colour with existing body trim in black suits the flaps fitted. Is this where I put the car details and a bit about myself ?........

I think the reason they're not fitted and are still in the box is because it is a one-way step once holes are drilled in the bodywork.

I also worry about the practical side of them when using the car in anger. I've seen a few Mondeo's (we use them in my wifes company) where some one has reversed up a large curb forcing the wheel to run over the mud flap which in turn rips the rear bumper clean off

My FFRR is a practical car for towing cattle trailers and the such like but occasionally goes round the livestock (everything here is either up hill or boggy) and it is during this I worry about losing body work. If you make a line from the bottom of the ground anchor (sorry - towbar) to the bottom of the tyres the mud flaps come below it and I've submerged the ground anchor a few times in the weeks I've had the car (previous Disco 3 or Defender 110 had same problem but 90 was better).

I know I'm driving the wrong car but what the hell - it's nice

Mine's Bonatti (I think that's how it's spelt) with colour coded front and rear pillar covers and I like the colour but that looks good.
