So, it would appear that my far too ample frame has finished off the drivers side sidestep.

I got out the car earlier and the step continued to go down when I put my foot on it.

i have a feeling that these are not OE type steps Mark as the bracket should be in one piece with the step,

I think they were on it from new, but that doesn't mean they were OE ones I suppose.

I've asked Dan, so well have to see what occurs......

Might end up having some made then.

Could anyone with an early car and sidesteps have a look and see if yours look the same bracket wise ?

Could be a dodgy sidestep made in the same place as the gearbox !

I've still got the pair that came off mine, they are originals, they are a bit rusty but only surface, still good and strong, took my not inconsiderable weight....

You are more than welcome to have them... and I'm not that far from you....

I was sat here wondering what the best course of action could be.

I've used a jack and pushed it back up, but it will bend again if used.

Did yours go into the front mudflaps ?

I'm in Chesterfield, so not too far.

My Mum lived in Routh near Beverley for about 20 years, so I have been known to visit the East Yorkshire !

Do you have any pics ? Are the brackets part of the step like in Stans pics then ?

Well as they are no use, I sort of investigated removing the ones that are on, only to find I can't undo the bolt going into the chassis. The edges of it seem a bit corroded. Not sure how tight it is, as I can't get purchase with a socket or spanner.

Not tried banging a smaller socket on yet, don't want to totally stuff it up if I have to get a garage to undo them.

Pain really, they only need to be slackened off to get the bracket out.

Just my luck....

I sheared the bolts off on one side (the inner ones). Was able to drill out the remaining stud, then drop a new bolt through the hole from inside the chassis boxing - LR provide suitable access holes. .
