United Kingdom 2011 Range Rover Vogue SE 4.4 V8 Fuji White
New car

Hello everyone,
Been a silent member since I bought a 2002 RRV a couple of years ago, but work commitments meant that it was pretty much left on the drive. The last MOT was a shock, £1500 to get through so time for a change. I had also bought a 2003 Mercedes 350 SL as a toy and never used it so I PX ed both against this 2010 RRV SE, all done over the phone and internet from Angola. I still have n't seen it as I am away at work, my long suffering wife has taken delivery and sorted the paperwork.
This is a theme with me really, I once bought a Lotus Esprit in the middle of Winter with a foot of snow on the roof and a Ferrari 348 over the phone when living in Spain. Broken all the rules when it comes to buying cars, bought the first I've seen on numerous occasions and mostly gotten away with it. But now in a sober moment I wonder if perhaps when the 3 month warranty that came with car expires I should buy another? Does anyone have any recommendations or avoid like the plague warnings?
Thanks in advance
Michael27

Some say the LR warranty is the best way to go on such a new model RR... Might be worth checking the price against others sir... Thumbs Up

Yeah, life's too short to inspect a dozen cars only to find the best you've seen has since been sold. Seize the day and all that...

I saw that one for sale, you do know it's an ex Police car and has holes all over the roof don't you??

Just kidding.... I've often bought the first I've seen but usually you have sorted the ones worth going to see with the ads and phone calls...

Does look nice in white, hope it puts the FF silly grin on your face when you finally get to drive it...

Think I'd go with the dealer warranty on one that age as well... Pete

New Zealand 2010 Range Rover Autobiography 5.0 SC V8 Galway Green

I bought the 5.0 SC without ever laying eyes on it, only saw it weeks later. I cheated though because I asked Gary Elliot (site sponsor) to do all the hard work for me Wink Smile.

Did buy my Honda 929 Fireblade over the net in New Zealand and it was brilliant. I also bought my Kawasaki ZX 14 over the net in the US for a bike trip, I still have that bike and it is brilliant.

Don't worry too much, use the 3 months warranty and try to find all the potential issues. Not all of them have issues, sofar my 5.0 has shown none at all. It has done 3500 miles since getting it and hasn't missed a beat. So they do exist.

I hope yours is one of the no problem ones as well.

I'm assuming you work in O&G and are on rotation in Angola (I worked in Nigeria for almost 5 years where I bought my 2006 SC).

Gorgeous looking FFRR by the way, absolutely brilliant. MY 2010 5.0 SC Galway green and sand interior!!
Have the Faultmate MSV2 Extreme to be tinkering with the settings etc. !!

Yes, I do work in O&G. Been just about everywhere but been in Angola for about a year now. Not as bad as you might think, apart from the Ebola obviously. Should be home in another 8 weeks or so and will get to drive it. Am I wrong in praying for snow?

That was a short honeymoon, car at a standstill, alternator packed in apparently. Being fixed under warranty. I guess with all the gizmos the alternator leads a hard life. Also I read on here that the strips along the sides of the tailgate glass should be replaced under anti corrosion warranty by LR but my indie says not. Is it a goodwill gesture by LR or does it depend on the local franchise?

I've just had both window strips replaced under warranty but bang on 3 years as the warranty was expiring so I don't know if it was under the anti corrosion or not. It's worth asking though. I also had one of the top door finishers replaced because that had started bubbling. Agueroooooooooo. 93-20
I swear you will never see anything like this ever again....watch it..drink it in.

JLR alternators have a high failure rate, I guess they still don't have the quality or specs in the Japanese league Smile MY 2010 5.0 SC Galway green and sand interior!!

I would love to get a little job in Aberdeen for a few weeks, fly to London, drive the FFRR up North (after fitting some winter shoes) and have a play in the evenings and weekends and also hoping for some snow. So keep praying I'd say Smile MY 2010 5.0 SC Galway green and sand interior!!
