TDV8 fuel filter - WARNING!!!

I ordered a replacement LR fuel filter for the TDVC8 which fits on the nearside inner wing under the bonnet.
This is the part number.

Having removed the old filter I disposed of it. As I was doing it outside and the rain was starting., I left fitting the new filter till the next day.
Having fitted the new filter I then found it impossible to connect the water-in-fuel sensor electrical connector.
In the end I removed the filter to see what the problem was and found no connector on the water drain.
Having retrieved the old filter the water drains are totally different.. They just screw off and are interchangeable. Heres what they look like.

Hope this saves someone else the bother or worse stops them disposing of the old unit without checking this water drain. Rehab is for quitters!!!

Stan they are identical in every way including the part number. My immediate assumption was I'd got the wrong one but I hadn't and I had asked for a TDV8 filter for a 2007 and left it to them to work out the part number.
Here's the old filter still with the water drain fitted. Can you see any difference?

Here's the label on the box. What am I missing?

It's alright. Been like that for years!

They run just fine without the sensor attached Thumbs Up

Is this a similar situation to the old TD5 Disco which had a connector on the bottom of the filter but it didn't come with a new unit and had to be ordered seperately?
