Does your full fat have locking nuts?

As per the title, yes or no and if not, has anyone tried to pinch them when without the locking nuts?

If the majority answer is no, I'm ditching the locking nuts as I think they look unsightly and the car spends most of the time in our garage, on a secure car park or 'at the garage' (see historic posts Laughing

No, I took them off and binned them as I have done on every car I've had with them for years,

Never had an attempt to nick them and I've left them in some right dodgy places all over Europe....

They are just too much hassle... either break or won't come off...

If my wheels get nicked, they are insured..... Pete

I had them on my VX220 but got rid of them. So many people have lost the key and my understanding is a thief wouldn't be detered by a locking nut anyway.

Also I live in Switzerland where crime is very low and my wheels are not very special!

Used to have a d3, the d3 forum suggested that the locking nuts be binned as they shear and just turn. I will be binning mine, don't think wheels get nicked any more any way do they?

Steve

I've got them on all my cars that are fitted with alloys. Si. <This is my name.

Binned mine

If you can get a FFRR off the ground, you can defeat a locking wheel nut

The only person they will ever inconvenience is you

Interesting.

Until reading recent threads I'd have thought these cars would pretty much all have locking nuts. I don't harbour fears that our wheels will get nicked though (Dalek!).

The poll currently has the no locking nuts brigade ahead too... Just!

Question:
Were locking nuts standard manufacturer spec and if so, if your wheels are stolen (someone has commented that 'they are insured' anyway), could having decommissioned factory fit locking nuts (if indeed they were factory) invalidate an insurance claim?

Pretty sure they were dealer fit option on my year, anyway if you get asked the question "did it have locking nuts" how are they going to prove your answer...... Whistle Whistle Pete

Mine had them on, so does my disco, but only coz they came with them. Pretty sure you would have to be crazy to try and nick a set off a ffrr! There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜
