Doing oil changes on my front and rear diffs and transfer box the online workshop manual (thro Wiki) gives the following torque settings:

T/Box Fill Plug: 25nm Drain Plug: 25nm
Rear Diff Fill Plug: 65nm Drain Plug: 65nm
Front Diff Fill Plug: 35nm Drain Plug: 65nm

The settings for the front diff seem to be a bit anomalous and I wondered if anyone had any idea as to why the difference? John

Transfer box is cast Aluminium and the diffs are cast iron

I can see the difference for the T/Box. It was the difference between front and rear diffs which puzzled me a little. John

Strange! Could understand it if it was the rear as the filler is smaller than the drain... But the front has the same size drain & filler

Even stranger. My rear fill and drain are the same size - 14mm allen key. John

Weegie, last 3 jobs on mine to do, thanks for the torque settings. As you have pointed out strange, why the difference between the two. Arh well that's land rovers for you.
