Discovered the fronts where wearing on the inside. Had a four wheel alignment carried out by Kwik Fit. Car drove brilliantly after this, stayed nice and straight with hands off the wheel. Felt like a whole different car. Following replacement of lower ball joints, stuck on two new front tyres and had the full 4 wheel alignment done again. The fronts are still wearing unevenly with the wear on the inside shoulders.... possible causes ?

If it's the same tyres, they tend to keep wearing even if you fix the problem... time for new tyres to sort it out...

I even tried turning them around on the rims on an old car I had, it was wearing on the outside, so I put the wear to the inside but it was soon totally worn out.... Pete

The first lot where Goodyear Wranglers and I put the same make on the second time around. Tyre pressure are spot on and most of the driving ( approx 70% ) is motorway usage.

Well I don't like slagging anyone off but I've never had great work done at Quick Fit... I'd get it checked at another garage, most don't charge if there is no adjustment required so at least it would rule misalignment out.... Pete

Worth getting it checked again, I got f1 autocentre to do mine in burton on Trent, set it up on the hawkeye and adjusted it for front toe as that was all that needed doing (had just had new track rod ends) It showed as a bit out on one of the front camber settings which needs a special too to set, so we left it.

I then got Kwik fit to check it a couple of days later, and to be honest they got pretty much the same readings. One thing to remember is that the car needs settling on its suspension, minimum up and down on the suspension, preferably it needs putting into tight tolerance mode prior to adjusting.

I have since had the rest of the front bushes/arms done and all is now in the green.

Inner edge wear is quite often toe related and this is the most common variable which needs adjusting but could be caused by bad camber, but if your bushes are all ok then this is unlikely to be out much. There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜
