Can be very sunny when skiing, and warm too, but not usually in January.

I loved the Maldives, but many find it boring.

Well, I just stay here and enjoy the lovely warmth as we have the entire year. Will spend plenty time at the pool, relaxing, eating, drinking. Pretty much what I do at the moment anyway and have done for the past few months. Life is tough. MY 2010 5.0 SC Galway green and sand interior!!

Maybe Conor , Cyprus can be great in January where you can get 2 weeks where it's pleasantly warm on the other hand it can be cloudy, cold, heavy rain and sometimes even sleety snow right down to sea level.... You could arrange a trip down the Nile for a couple of nights and visit The valley of the Kings.
