England 2012 Range Rover Vogue SE 4.4 V8 Santorini Black
Air Bag Warning Light

As a new member to the forum I would like to share with you a few problems i've recently encountered with a pre owned Vogue SE i took delivery of 4 weeks ago.
Don't get me wrong I love Range Rovers. This is the second one I've owned. The first being a Series 3 Vogue.
After lusting after a L405 since introduction I finally managed to find one at my regular dealer to the desired spec/colour combination and importantly for the right money.
After about a week of ownership the air bag warning light came on.I arranged with the dealer to have this sorted out the following week.A day later a red battery warning light also came on.The combined effect made my dashboard look something out of Blackpool illuminations.
In fairness to the dealer they delivered a loan RR Sport the same evening and picked up my vehicle within an hour of my phone call.
The car was returned 48 hours later with the two issues resolved but within a few days the airbag warning light came on again and also the brakes had begun to squeal.Back to the dealership for round 2.
The airbag warning light was sorted within a couple of hours and i was informed that new brakes pads would be required to be fitted-something to do with a memo from the factory.
Literally 10 minutes from leaving the dealership the airbag warning light was back on again. The dealer had my car back and at the same time they fitted the brakes looked at the warning light again.I was without my car for a further 48 hours.
Finally, i picked up my car again last Friday.Air bag warning sorted and new brakes. The car looks great having been valeted.
Guess whats happened within 24 hours.Thats right ,the air bag warning light is back on.
Also I'm getting a strange vibration sound at low revs from the engine bay.
The upshot of this is that I've been without my car for over 4 days of about 25 days of ownership.

Hi, sounds a problem that's not easy to fix. Maybe that's why it is pre-owned.

Was it LR owned or private individual? Was it sold new by the same dealer?

I would try contacting LR customer services on here (Ryan) with your VIN, dealer and problems to see if they can help out.

Hope it is something trivial. There was a bumper bracket upgrade for 3.0 which was standard from 14MY but not sure I f that's the noise you are hearing from engine bay.

Let us know what happens.

Either start a thread on that bit - I don't think you can send a private message until you get 5 post. But it would be better to send the info to them via a PM.

What's the weather like where you are Whistle ? Should get you an extra post!

We once fly from the frozen north to Birmingham to pick up a 90 we bought over the 'phone from a dealer in that area beginning with a C and sounding vaguely like a mining company. Anyway. It was a farce, vehicle not prepared and the tech holed the leather glove box lid when checking for the locking wheel nut.

The car was great the service was pish poor.

I know the dealer in question.I live about 10 minutes from them.Few years ago I spoke to them about changing from a Jaguar Xj to RR.They didn't seem at all interested in my business so went over to Solihull and got sorted over there in couple of days.

i know Land Rover product sells relatively easily in comparison to other premium brands but it never ceases to amaze me when I hear of dealerships offering poor service.

I'm lucky that the LR dealer I use is very accommodating .During the problems i've encountered they have quickly responded and always given me good loan vehicles.(On Friday I had a 3ltr Vogue Se with only 37 miles on it)

Nevertheless I just want these problems resolved so I can enjoy what I still believe to be the best car around.

They do say it's how the problem is dealt with that leaves the impression.

They are the best cars available IMO, we have tried other brands but always had an LR of some variety since 2001.

Hope it gets sorted soon.

Frankly, it sound like they have a mechanic that doesn't know what he/she is doing. You've taken it back quite a reasonable number of times to get it fixed. I've recommend following the advice above about contacting JLR and getting them to put it right. Just keep copies of EVERYTHING as the problems started immediately after purchase and the words "not fix for purpose" are going to be starting pretty soon.

What a difference a day makes. Smile

Following a phone call my car went into the dealership straight away today. An equivalent loan car was ready as i arrived.
I drove my own car with a tech, who after 10 minutes diagnosed the issue. The vibration was identified at 1400rpm.(It appears to be the result of two protective shields under the engine and gear box rubbing against one another). This was subsequently sorted within 10 minutes.

With regard to the airbag problem this will be reexamined tomorrow.
I cannot fault the dealership in terms of their responsiveness.I just want to finally resolve the air bag issue once and for all.

Have they checked for loose wiring connections under the seats?

After 7 days with the loan car the problem has been finally sorted.
As the above post suggested it was damaged wiring under the drivers seat.
Even though I've experienced a whole raft of issues with this car ,in comparison to my previous RR,I am still of the opinion that its one of the best cars out there.
As a post script to this story, on the way back from my office another warning light went off. This time the battery recharge
light. It was sorted by a manual reset -- but that , as they say , is a story for another post.
