LED lights flicker while lights off

Quick question guys to ones who have fitted LED's to the side lights.

I have LED's in the front side lights and have had for a while now, working great, while dark in the mornings and nights I have always had the side lights flicking on and off quickly.
Yes this is normal as its on self test, then stops but today I have noticed that they are flickering on and of every 20-30 seconds ish while the lights are off Confused
These are can bus 501s that some on here have used,

Has anyone else had this? lights off at the switch and led sidelights flicker? Not that it bothers me but would bother the men in blue i guess and is this normal or faulty leds or would fitting ballest risistor solve the flickering?

Thanks Thumbs Up If it dont work.......burn it!

If the IId tool cant fix it.......burn the FF.

If the FF cant be fixed......buy a Land Cruiser!

If the LC cant be fixed..............................................BUY a horse !!

I've got those From HQ auto WD and they don't start flickering other than as you say, briefly on startup.

From past experience with their bulbs, if you email them they will ask you to post a query faulty bulb to them and they will upon receipt of the queried bulb, test it and send you a replacement.

Thumbs Up

if you have an IIDTOOL then you could switch off the hot & cold monitoring, hopefully this will stop the flickering when off... ... - .- -.

Worth having a look, it's in the CCF settings... I turned off all the ones I could and mine flicker 10 times on startup but I haven't noticed them flicker at other times but it could be I've never noticed!!!! Pete

Yep, that was my post from Landyzone, my LED Bulbs flicker, both side lights and fog lights, they flicker for about five seconds on startup and when engine running and lights switched off.

They only do it once every minute or so and during the day they're virtually unnoticeable. The boys in blue wont do anything about the occasional flicker and the MOT guy that did my MOT in October said it wasn't important as for MOTworthiness. Passed MOT with flying coulour, with all LED lightbulbs left in place.

Good to know that you can turn off the bulb monitoring with the IID Tool, as getting a BTIID Tool from Santa (well hopefully SWMBO).

Well just had reply to my email ( who I bought them from) asking if the led's might be faulty or is the flickering normal on retro fit....reply back was 'do you want exchange?'

They seem very busy WD and this seems to be their polite way of buying themselves a little time, keeping your plate spinning whilst they then deal with other business. I suppose they could have said "Sorry, but ... "

Thumbs Up
