Asking me to insert sat nav disc...? | |
So I'm almost a week into FF ownership. So far really enjoying it.
This afternoon whilst taking lunch at work I was fiddling around with different features, settings etc. I used the on road navigation to get me home when I picked up the car so I knew that worked but I wanted to see what the off road navigation was all about. I selected the option and a message appeared asking me to insert a navigation disc?! After this both on and off road navigation were blacked out and unusable. I tried turning ignition off, locked car, unlocked, LR splash screen was displayed but it didn't know the time and thought it was January 14. After 30 seconds it remembered the time, and both on and off road were available. I selected on road as I knew that had worked before, but again it asked me for a disc and then blacked out the options.
I thought maybe the disc has become scratched so I went to the boot, pressed eject, heard a bit of whirring but nothing came out. Continued to make a motor noise for around 30 seconds. then it stopped.
Later on this evening when I got home I thought I'd have another go ejecting the disc. Held eject down for circa 2 minutes. For the first 10 seconds or so the unit made a whirring noise, then nothing. Repeatedly pressed the eject button, nothing.
Is my Mk3 nav fubar'ed or is there something else I can try? Struggling to find any relevant info by searching.
The only electrical thing that's changed since I got the car is I replaced the FSR and then put the fuses back in for the blower (previous owner removed to stop battery drain or something?) Is there any possibility that these fuses have also developed some kind of sat nav disabling feature?!
On a slightly different note, which doesn't bother me but I thought I would ask the question after I'd been in the boot - My lower tailgate doesn't lock closed when I shut it unless I pull up a little latch on the left hand side of the tailgate, just above the lock mechanism. Is this normal operation?
Thanks
Matt
