Steering wheel button lights

The lights on my steering wheel controls seem to work intermittently, would my recently dying battery be at fault, the buttons still work ok?

Possibly, but more likely a loose broken connection or failing ring in the steering wheel. There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜
