United Kingdom 2012 Range Rover Autobiography TDV8 Baltic Blue

I read this post before:

http://www.fullfatrr.com/forum/topic19823....eam+valley

I PM'd the OP after I bought my SC just to see what his symptoms were, he advised that it was making a whistling noise and there was carbon on the manifold.

I'm hoping it won't take that long! Whistle

I played the YouTube video at the garage and they reckoned it was a pulley for the whistling and a blacked or (I think) split hose for the pan pipes sound.

Yet to report back because my car is still in dock. Rolling Eyes

Took it to DSE Macclesfield on Wednesday for a service and investigation in to the noises.

Was called the next day to be told two brake pipes corroded and a couple of rear bushes needed replacing.
Seeing as the car was with them, I also later requested a gearbox oil and filter change.

They had been waiting for parts but the last update I had said the squealing is now gone. It was caused by one of the belts being very shiny! They also re-gassed the air-con because of the belt change?

I'll report back when I get the car back, which I'm hoping will be later today or at some point tomorrow.

If they changed the multibelt (as opposed to the supercharger belt), I hope they also did the roller/tensioner. The tensioner roller bearing tends to go around the time the belt needs replacing so I do them both (did on the 4.2). The 4.2 also had its supercharger belt replaced. MY 2010 5.0 SC Galway green and sand interior!!
Have the Faultmate MSV2 Extreme to be tinkering with the settings etc. !!

Thanks for the update - mine will have to wait till the warmer weather , brrr freezing here,

you do need to drop the aircon charge to remove the fan shroud , Censored design I'd say

Thanks, Ebajema.

They changed both belts. Not sure if they replaced the tensioner. Wouldn't cost much so hopefully they changed it!

Just had a call to say they cannot identify the pan pipes noise. May have been cured by changing the belts? They can't seem to get the car to reproduce the noise. Confused

The garage said they couldn't get the car to reproduce the pan pipe sound, but here's the latest version of it.

I hoped it might have been sorted as part of my £1250 bill for servicing and other works. I'll take it back for them to have another listen.

I listened to it and my 4.2 nor 5.0 didn't have it. I have never heard anything like this before. My suggestion is that it is either in the inlet tract but also could maybe maybe be the cam chain having a tiny bit of slack. MY 2010 5.0 SC Galway green and sand interior!!

A brief update.

Still no further on with sorting out the Pan Pipes.

The stethoscopes have been out and a new crankcase valve was fitted but still the problem (and the air escaping near the O/S front wing under max acceleration) remains.

I'll report back...
