Third Party Warranty

Off to collect my new 11plate Vogue SE on Wednesday and I was wondering about warranties. Anyone recommend a third party warranty which actually pays out? Is it possible to get a LR warranty on a 4.4 Vogue SE with 52K miles on the clock.

Thoughts? 2011 4.4 TDv8 Vogue SE

shouldn't be a problem getting a LR approved warranty on that.

You will read many things about different warranties, but generally the LR is regarded to be good. It paid out on mine while i had a warranty, for several things.

you should be able to get a quote directly from the LR website.

I think you can get a land rover warranty, but you may have to pay for the dealer to give it the once over. At that age I think you will get an approved warranty, but over 5 years old it goes down to select warranty. Those warranties are described on the land rover site somewhere I'm sure.

Yes upto 75K you can get a full Land Rover Warranty but it has to be done at the dealer after a health check over 75K at the start of the policy it drops to a select warranty which will not cover as much Very Happy I think the full one is about £1400 per year.

All RR under 100,000 miles can now qualify for the LR "Approved" extended warranty (£1455 for 12 months including roadside assist).

The "Select" extended warranty can also still be purchased too (£1005 for 12 months including roadside assist).

" The Land Rover Approved Warranty is exclusively for vehicles that have covered less than 100,000 miles at the time of purchase and is only available through an authorised Land Rover dealer.

There is no limit to the number of claims that can be made and no limit to the value of claims up to the purchase price paid for your Approved Used Land Rover.

All ages of Land Rover Approved Used vehicle are covered with the duration of cover dependent upon the age of the vehicle:

Vehicles under 7 years old – 12 months cover
Vehicles over 7 years old – 6 months cover.

Your Land Rover Approved Warranty can be extended at the time of vehicle purchase:

Vehicles under 7 years old – 12 or 24 months
Vehicles over 7 years old – 6 or 12 months "

PS... The 'Select' has proven to be excellent VFM in our case.

Thumbs Up

Have a warranty direct Lite policy.
Only pays out if you break down but payed out for my gearbox twice for about £120 a year if memory serves.
You do need to have all your paperwork spot on and although they cover the full cost of labour the parts are on a sliding scale due to age.
I thought it was ok. Mine was a blue one! Smile

My son had the AA one on his car and after his alternator failed and he called the AA out after he broke down, they sorted it very quickly and without fuss.

I cant remember how much it was but it didn't sound expensive at the time.

Someone mentioned the AA. Worked out to be £110 per year (or there abouts) for a maximum £500 per claim, upto 5 claims a year. 2011 4.4 TDv8 Vogue SE

The AA warranty sounds ok but £500 claim limit is a bit light for a full fat but at just over hundred quid per year I suppose it's a bit of piece of mind.

I've just tried to get a quote on line off LR for my 2010 with 77k miles and was informed there is no cover product available so I supposed the Select policy has to be done over the phone? Anyway looking at LR premiums it's a bit pie in the sky.

I have had successfully policies with Warranty Wise in the past and will prob go with them now. Quoted £650 for 12 months Gold cover which includes things like air con, turbo EAS etc. and the cover is very flexible. Previous claims on a discovery and 322 were handled without fuss. You get quotes based not just on the car but the labour rate of you chosen VAT registered Indy so found this to be the best policy.

As I say my lad had a new alternator and there was no hassle. I think there is a condition that the car "has" to break down, so things like oil leaks or air con would not be covered, but I would need to look at the small print.
