Did you do all of this on the vehicle battery after fully charging, or was it still attached to an external supply? Land Rover Addict

Fully charged the car battery anyway and then did the re-flash with the battery connected to the charger as well to be sure as 45 minutes with the ignition in position 1 could drain it. GONE 2010 Facelifted 3.6 TDV8 - Stornoway Grey + 22" Overfinch Olympus

France

Inspired by paulmoran2’s success and his “How-to” above, I decided I’d have a go with my 2nd hardware version IIDTool (Paul’s was 1st version).

Our telephones have never worked with the FF’s Bluetooth system; although I could pair them and they were recognised, they would hang up after dialling when the call was answered. A local Main Dealer was supposed to have “reprogrammed” the module 5 years ago, shortly after I bought the car, but it didn’t improve matters.
Having recently bought the IIDTool (non-Bluetooth) I wanted to see if re-flashing the module would help.

I have some trepidation about messing with things electrical (even though this is called a “low-risk” procedure … I feared the worst!) but I decided to give it a go anyway. Thanks, Paul!

My fears were unfounded as all seems to have gone well. We can now make and receive calls with SWMBO’s iPhone (I haven’t tried the address book yet) although my Android Acer device doesn’t work – it doesn’t seem to be recognised. The latter is a dual-SIM; could that have anything to do with it? (I don’t see why.) I’ll try with another phone tomorrow, but at least I know the re-flash was successful as the iPhone works, which it didn’t before.

The procedure for the 2nd version is slightly different and also Paul used a PC interface whereas I used the Integrated Interface. So here’s my 2nd version, integrated interface, non-BT “How-to”:

Re-flashing the telephone Bluetooth ECU using the non-Bluetooth IIDTool, 2nd hardware version (LED indicator in bottom left corner of the Tool) with Integrated Interface.
The Bluetooth re-flash function is embedded in the IIDTool firmware.

Note: Apparently your radio station pre-sets may be lost during this procedure (though mine weren’t), so make a note of them for resetting later if need be.

1 Make sure the car battery is fully charged and connect an external 12V power supply to the vehicle’s battery. Turn the key to the ON position.
NB An external power supply is very important. I had made sure my (new-ish) battery was fully charged and even though I also connected a battery charger (admittedly one that was not really man enough for the job) during the process, ľh later when the re-flashing was finished, the battery showed only 11 volts and would not start the car!

2 Insert the IIDTool and wait until the message IIDTool Ready appears on the display. Call up the IIDTool by pressing the Resume button for 2 seconds.

3 Read Fault will be displayed. Scroll up or down (with the Speed +/- buttons) to the ECU Flash submenu and select with the Resume button. Select Telephone, then Flash ECU and follow the instructions on screen.

4 Various messages will be displayed: read them and press Speed + to continue. For example, you will be required to confirm: Telephone Bluetooth write? <+> Yes <-> No. Press Speed + to confirm or Speed - to cancel.

5 Wait for completion and keep IIDTool connected <+> will now be displayed. Press Speed + to continue.

6 Flashing started shows, and the electrics will then turn off. The main display will come on again shortly, with the message Preparing system software. Please wait. The IIDTool LED will flash (blue) rapidly.

7 44 minutes later, the displays will come back on normally. In the absence of any further messages, I waited a few minutes in case the procedure was still working but then turned off the ignition, then back on again after a few seconds before re-pairing and trying out the phones.

Bingo!

Thanks for giving me the confidence, Paul! It's "bĂ©bĂ©choon", ackcherly, with accents. 'Steve' to my chums.
20 years ownership of Solihull products, ALL GONE NOW, sniff!
Current motor: Suzuki S-Cross 4WD auto, 1.4 petrol. Oh so reliable! 7 years now and no problems. Oh, all right then, a leaking shocker replaced under guarantee.
