Tyre searching

Having a look round to see if the nexen tyres have come down in price, I found this site ...shockingly cheap price for a branded tyre in the sale!

http://www.mytyres.co.uk/cgi-bin/rshop.pl?...p=R-160391

Anyone used this site ?
Getting tyres fitted is no issue of me as 2 place near me can do them for beer tokens Laughing If it dont work.......burn it!

If the IId tool cant fix it.......burn the FF.

If the FF cant be fixed......buy a Land Cruiser!

If the LC cant be fixed..............................................BUY a horse !!

Stan....now hook me up with a set of 22's for an awesome price! Very Happy

280/40/22...looking for comfort, low noise, as they will be summer tires. Still want a "truck" looking tire though ie. not a passenger car looking tire or street/summer performance tire.

That is the most hilarious difference between spec and requirements I've seen. Smile

oh cmon....truck tires aren't all noisy and uncomfortable. Stock rubber for example.

Is that a normal size in your neck of the woods? 285/35R22 is common over here but they do tend to be a tad soft in the sidewall (stay on the flat stuff!!). Personally I've gone 305/40R22 114XL and the ride / handling are superb (sorry to all those that have tired of me praising this set up Bow down )

^^This is my first time buying 22" tires so I have no idea haha. Based on what people are saying here in various threads the options for fitting 22's on our Ranges are 285/35/22 or 285/40/22. I much prefer the 40 because I don't want a skinny sidewall. I want it to look substantial, fill out the wheel well, and provide a comfortable ride....the 35 series tire would provide less for all of those.

I'm considering a set of Yokohama Prada Spec-x in 285/40/22

I did not think a 305/40/22 would fit without rubbing or causing issues with the power steering pump. plus the overall diameter of that setup would be a considerable size bigger than the stock size.

The set of wheels I have coming are 22x10 Stormer reps with:

WHEEL SIZE: 22x10
WHEEL OFFSET: 50
BOLT PATTERN: 5-120
HUB SIZE: 72.56
BACK SPACING: 7.47

It's always a balancing act Big Cry 280s on 10" rims will give you absolutely no rim protection whatsoever - touch a kerb and it's too late. 285s aren't much better (why I went 305 as mine's a working girl Very Happy ) and you're right about the 35 profile being too shallow.

The gratuitous pic below is mine and I think the wheels fill the arches rather nicely.......but, if I were buying new rims and tyres I'd have gone 20" for increased rubber Thumbs Up

So that pic your are running 22's with a 305/40 tire? No rubbing or power steering problems with that setup?

What is the offset and width of those wheels?

The yokohamas I'm looking at 285/40/22 specs say it will fit 9.5-11" wide wheel

They're 10" rims and pretty sure they're 50 offset - certainly no more!

Following advice on here, I did use a heat gun to manipulated the OS rear wheel arch liner where it is formed around the tank filler tube. The closest thing to binding is the front struts but as it is a fixed distance and misses by approx 10mm then there's nowt to worry about.

I think it would depend on tyre choice - I've gone Hankook after being p****d off with failing Pirellis and I have nothing but praise for them. If you went for a more knobbly tread things could get a tad closer.

Oh, I did have 5mm spacers on the rear when that picture was taken but I've since removed them Thumbs Up They were there as a "just in case" at the fitting garage Very Happy
