My VSE had remote park heating and the upgraded seats and winged headrests so maybe I was closer to AB spec than I thought. Current AB with surround cameras is great, for me the RSE has never been used. It all depends on what you prioritise. Everyone is individual and now LR offer you the opportunity to go mad with SVO. I still can't get my head around what's actually different other than the headliner, which extra bits are leather (vs plastic) on the Autobiography?

So far I've only actually test drove an autobiography (2013) so potentially I'm taking for granted some of the leather extras that had, I guess I need to view an SE to compare.

I've not yet owned an L405 but have driven a few and sat in many.

The things I noticed on the AB version were the leather headlining et.al, they also seemed to have air vents in the headlining where you'd expect to see the grab handles. The leather trim on the dash and doors is nice (as I have that in my L322 AB) and I'd say once you've had it you'd notice going back to the plastic.

One thing I will say about having leather everywhere that people don't think about beforehand is the noise. It squeaks a lot more than my previous car, especially the headlining and pillars and door card mating surfaces. Anywhere the car has slight flex in it when you drive, means a surface will squeak. I also get noise from the sunroof sliding panel, whereas when its covered in fabric it doesn't resonate at all.

I'd only go for the AB version again if it were the same price as the VSE. Discovery 4 HSE

No squeaks from the leather at all in mine

I've seen it before in other cars too, manufacturers should mate surfaces with suede rather than leather. Discovery 4 HSE
