Just read this thread for the 1st time and 10 minutes later I have a new cap strap. The oil filter O ring is the perfect size and length. I opened the cap, removed the spring inside to remove the old remains, pushed through the new cord, used a small cable tie on the end to stop it pulling back out, refitted spring and cover to the cap, crimped a ring terminal to the other end of the cord and a job done, perfect. The O ring use is genius, thanks for the tip. 2007 TDV8 VSE
