If you had

A personalised number plate that was worth a good few £k and although it was bought for you by your better half ....

Would you put it up for sale or hold onto it for fear of causing major grief .......... Whistle

2010 Range Rover Vogue TDV8 Stornoway Grey

I have one that I purchased from DVLA for £300, last year I was followed home by a guy in a brand new Focus RS who wanted to buy the plate.................. started at £5000, he got up to £10k and it was only when I said I was serious that I wasn't selling he gave up trying to buy.
The plate? FA57 RRS - he wanted it so he could make it read FASTR RS. Now I no longer have the car but have the plate on retention I bet it will be years before it is worth selling now! 2018 Mini Countryman Cooper S E All4 PHEV in Melting Silver - it’s whisper quiet in EV and polluter modes

If the plate was one you'd happily keep for life then I'd keep it.....

However if someone in an RS offered me 10k I'd take it lol TDV8 HST Sport **Current**

Are we talking a proper private reg that is always going to be in demand or something with an age identifyer that a (kind of) similar one becomes available every six months?

If the former, keep it.

I've got TOP 90 on retention still in case I ever fancy a 90 again. Thumbs Up
Can't see me selling that for a long time, by which time 90s will probably be a distant memory...

If it's C12 and initials you can get another anytime.

Have you tried someone else in case they are trying to make easy money?

Reg Transfers has a price promise, but when I wanted a 60 plate for my wife's car they were 40% more expensive than another supplier. So I just went to the other supplier as a 40% extra profit margin is bonkers.

That probably explains why it's dropped so much since the wife bought it ........ in other word's she paid over the top for it .......... Neutral
