Suspension (EAS) dropped on one corner, No Faults

Was at a mates in Manchester yesterday helping to fix his truck, came out to mine to find it had got upset seeing me fix another Land Rover so spat it's dummy out and sat on the pavement and refused to get up... sometimes I think they are like children...

The front had dropped to the bump stops, rear was about right...

Got in, started it up and it's showing no faults at all... tried to take it up and down and the rear moved fine and occasionally the front nearside would go up and down but the front off side refused to do anything...

Plugged in the IID and again, no faults showing.... messed about for around an hour trying to get it to raise with no luck at all... the only time it did come up was when I asked it to empty the entire system of air, the front came up level, then the whole lot dropped and you can't interrupt it once it's started...

Anyway was getting dark so called the breakdown and had a nice three hour drive home on a breakdown truck, the driver was on overtime and sat at about 40mph the entire way across the M62...

Am I right in guessing it's going to be the front off side height sensor, there are no faults shown and the system isn't locked out, I'm thinking the sensor is giving the wrong signal and the ECU thinks the front is at the right height so it won't send any air to it....

Haven't had a chance to have a look today...

Anyone had anything similar...

Cheers chaps.. Pete

I suppose if the sensor linkage is broken (and now dangling) it wont raise that corner because it thinks it's already at full height?

It's not physically broken, but could be giving the wrong reading....

I'll have a bit of a look tomorrow and read the live values off it, that should give some idea Pete

Had a play with the IID

Live values show a fixed reading for FL of 77, RL and RR at 57 and the FR fluctuates between -5 and 3, if you rock the car the others move by 1-2 then stabalise but the FR still behaves the same...

Just a bit weird there are no faults as it can throw up a "sensor out of range" fault, maybe it isn't far enough out to trip the fault...

I'll see if Ducky Dan can sort me out a new one tomorrow, unless someone happens to have a spare lying around?? Pete

Just to put this to bed, I replaced the front height sensor and all is well. It would appear that the sensor was faulty but still giving a reading that the EAS ECU thought was too high so was trying to drop the corner, it got to the bump stops and stayed there.

Bit of an annoying fault as it didn’t throw up any faults on the dash or with the IID tool, and also meant the car was undrivable, well it was with the 32” tyres I’ve got on it as they were hitting the wheel arch liner.

I’ve changed the title to better reflect the fault and help others in future…… Pete

Did Iid show differencing sensor readings if you disconnected the linkage and moved it up and down by hand?

Yes it did, they were never steady though, always fluctuated up and down when the sensor was stationary... Pete
