Looking for advice please. Currently on holiday in the dordogne France and just had a stressful journey of 300+ miles with the tin tent on the back. The restricted performance error kept on appearing requiring me to pull over on the autoroute 4 times. Each time I switched off and then left it for a few mins, it then Resets itself so I could carry on. It appears to happen when under load and the revs are above 2000.

I've managed to get to my planned location and have 8 days to find a solution before I head off to the next location.


Any advice welcome

Sounds like a boost pipe - but wait for the experts as I'm more petrol biased!

Thanks for the replies. I have full Caravan Club red pennant cover so I can contact them if required. I plan to undertake a road test tomorrow without having the van attached.

I had the same "restricted performance" fault alarm on my 2011 tdv8 a couple of months ago, and "terrier" is having the same problem at the moment.
I suggest you read all the posts in his item called reduced performance.

I have got copies of both service bulletins if you want to read them.

How far is your 'next location' ?

There's a fair chance that your breakdown cover company will recover it to the local dealer, then if they can't fix, will just repatriate it from there & figure out a way to get you home & repatriate the caravan at the same time.

So you need to decide when to call them as you won't be able to move it far after that.....

When mine was repatriated last year it took about 3 weeks - they didn't collect it for 10 days or so, then it took another week once it was back in the UK to get delivered to my local dealer.

I have just returned from Austria towing 2000kg of tin tent and had the restricted performance warning on at various times, I did not notice any reduction in power or climbing ability on the hills and there were a few.

Back in UK but still not home and have not seen the warning for two weeks.
