how much oil is acceptable in the turbo pipes, on mine when i changed the hoses last year i noted that there was a thin film on the inside of the intercooler pipes, not a great amount to be honest. The disco is another matter though. it has a pretty decent drip if you undo the bottom of the hose?

I was just wondering if this is particularly normal on either of the engines?

Quite normal NMJ Thumbs Up

So.... We were looking at it last night, and we decided just to drop the whole lot out the bottom, was going to be easier than splitting the box and engine, and much less of a fight to remove the turbos. Found out it is the drivers side turbo that has eaten itself, so they will both be off to the midlands on monday

Out of interest, What leads you to believe they are both broken?

I believe both, as one the exhaust housing is full of oil, so that there is a pool of it sitting in the bottom of the turbo. And the other turbo, the impeller shaft has oooodles of play, and the intake housing is full of oil. More so than the other side.

As for them both going, I'm perplexed. However a lot of people say it's my 'enthusiastic' driving style lol

So a seal failure or shaft wear, or both? Are they able to be refurbed?

It will be interesting to see what the turbo rebuilder says. ______________________________

I'm not sure what's caused it to be honest, think it wasnt short of oil. Could be wear, and one was leaking, then when the other gave out it had nothing?

Cars done 124000 miles now approximately

That's not mega mileage

Perhaps right that one took the other out. At least it didn't take the engine with them. There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜
