Bu Censored gger

Front drivers side brake splash shield has been catching for a few weeks now. Bit of bending has silenced it, but I’ve just gone to swap it and one of the wheel nuts has completely seized on...

I’ve removed all the “caps” on the wheel and managed to free the other 4 nuts, but one was persistent.

Me on the end of a 2’ breaker bar ..... nothing

Rounded off the nut 🥵😡😤

Took it to the garage who last had the wheel off, had a go using a stud extractor..... snapped the head off the nut......

They are having it on Monday and will have to spend the day for grinding out the nut to get the wheel off......

Then they can swap the backplate.... There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜

Yep.

Was going to be a 10 min Job......

And the company who does the solid nuts seems to be out of stock at the mo. Have ordered a full set of OEM nuts for £2 each..... There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜

They are all coming off and new ones going on at the correct torque!

I have a suspicion that they were put on with a windy gun and that one was threaded!!!

Gives me an excuse to put my old wheels back on. 😁 There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜

When I got my new nuts I soaked in WD40 overnight (I buy it in 5 litre cans). Its then soaked into the gap between the shell and the nut. Will re-soak them every time I have the wheel off.

Good idea Rog,

Well they have managed to get it off.

However I had a call asking where the Hub nut was........

😳😳😳😳😳😳😳😳😳😳😳😳😳😳😳

The last time there was a possibility that they would have been removed was in March. (And not by me)

So I’ve been driving round with no hub but for the best part of 6 months. Must be a tight fit on the driveshaft, otherwise the wheel would have come off!!

Anyway one on order along with the new wheel bolts so all back to normal by tomorrow Pm.

Along with some new centre caps. There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜

Some wheel swapping has occurred

RR wheels over to D4 with the verde tyres (which look very nice.....imho) swapped from (and FYI D4 owners), the 19” vogue 2012-> wheels with scorpion winters I had on the D4 don’t actually fit properly. Only on taking them off did I notice that they had been reamed out by the Caliper carrier by a mm or 2 don’t ask how I didn’t notice when I fitted them..... and I’ve been running them for well over a year now.....

Also put my set of anthracite 20” with the “summer” Scorpion zeros back on the fattie. It’s a tyre aesthetic thing, I just think the scorpion zeros look right on the car, the rest look too smooth..... I’m pondering getting a set of scorpion winters in 255/50/20, the zeros will need replacing next year anyway as the dot on them is mid 15, so the question is

Use up these scorps over winter v get some new winters for winter v get some new verdes for all seasons........ tbh having one set of each there’s not a whole lot of difference that I’ve noticed with the weather we get round here.

The current set of verdes can get used up on the work disco, then be replaced with more, they seem to wear reasonably well. I’m just torn on the FF, though leaning towards just using up these Zeros then replacing with more Zeros and a set of winters, the argument for that (man maths) is tricky though as neither set of tyres will get fully used up before they run out of shelf life.....aaarrrggggg, in which case a set of Verdes would be the answer, but in theory they don’t work as well in either condition as the dedicated tyre. Summers are much better on paper in the wet and dry, though in reality I’ve not noticed much difference.

It’s a minefield Rolling Eyes what happened to round and black with minimum of 1.6mm..... There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜

Had a quick car morning, cleaning the bin full of Detritus from SWmBOs car and giving the New Shiny a quick once over, had a bit of belt noise from the serpentine belt, literally a 1second squirt of mannol belt cleaner in the direction of the belt sorted that!

Also had the cabin filter box off and a quick check of the o rings at the back of the engine and a scout round for any leaks. All looks OK Thumbs Up

The MAP sensor came out and had a clean as it was covered in gunk. Thinking of stripping off the manifold and giving it all a good clean out at some point!

On a Crying or Very sad note I managed to kerb the front drivers alloy on Fri! Censored There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜

NMJ,
How did you get such a brilliantly clear picture of the oil feed pipe.?? I still struggle with an inspection mirror and torch, but pleased to report that both our cars are still leak free.

It was all surprisingly hunky dory.

Not had too much time to fiddle with it over the last 12 months with the house build, and the interior was looking a bit grubby. But it’s now all nice and tidy again Very Happy

It may well be approaching time for a new fattie, but I just can’t bring myself to spend the money...... There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜

its going....PX Big Cry but I can't be faffed and they did a decent enough deal given how low private sales are seeming to go at the moment.....
