Having sold off my fathfull old TD6 two weeks ago, I made the long drive back up to Lancashire on Saturday to collect the new Rangie. Enjoyed every one of the 250-odd miles drive back home and I have to say that the TdV8 engine is fantastic - what an upgrade! I'm blown away by the 4.4 - it's smooth, quiet, very fast when you want it and also returned 39 mpg!!! OK, so I drove like a granny most of the way (max 70mph), just to see what I could get, but I don't see why my more usual driving style won't return 34/35 mpg on out of town driving and I'm very happy indeed with that.

I also have to give a big nod of appreciation to the dealership on this one. I'd posted a couple of times about the fact that the car had some damage to the door card and there was also a tiny ding in the passenger door. I had said that I'd like the card to be replaced, but the dealers were confident that they worked with two specialist repairers that would do a first-class job. My natural cynicism was such that I got them to agree to replace the door card if I didn't like the repair and I drove back up on Saturday with some trepidation, expecting to see the the shabby quality of repair I've seen on previous cars I've bought. However, I have to say that both repairs are absolutely perfect - like the damage was never there!

I'm now the proud owner of a 62 reg Westminster in Orkney/Ivory, with just 10k miles on the clock. With the two imperfections sorted the car is in the perfect cosmetic condition you'd expect for it's mileage. Let's just hope it's mechanically good too - but at least I've got two years warranty!

Thanks all. I'm a big fan of grey - not least of because it always looks so much cleaner than black or my previous Buckingham Blue.
