What a lovely cruiser the L405 is!

I've just got back from holiday in the south of France, and a 15 hour journey in my L405. 3 hours longer than usual due to striking dock workers, but even sitting stationary in a queue at Calais didn't feel too much like hardship.

Big positives for me were the hifi, the massage seats, the active cruise control, the cold box between the seats and the panoramic roof. The kids loved the RSE (a first for us, so quite a novelty). I was amazed by the fuel economy - I averaged nearly 35mpg, nearly 10 mpg more than what I got in my TDV8 L322 for the same journey.

I only saw one other L405 during my entire holiday in France, and that was a Dutch one.

Some neat little touches that I liked were how I could adjust the headlights to point to the right just through the computer on the dash. I also liked how the windscreen wash wipe didn't dump a load of water onto the driver's side window.

Biggest negative has to be the sat nav - I resorted to using my iPhone to get me through Paris, as I've done in the past. It's definitely an improvement on the system in the L322, but it doesn't feel like 7 years worth of improvement. 2024 Range Rover P550e AB

Sounds like a great trip - apart from the queuing in Calais! 35 mpg is quite incredible from a V8 diesel, the fact it is better than a previous generation V6 speaks volumes for progress !
